ALL CANNINGS VILLAGE
AND
SURROUNDING LOCALITY.

Updated August 2006.

the street This photo is part of the street in All Cannings village where I was born and lived for 36 years. The building you can see with the white windows used to be the village Grocer/Bakery and Post Office in the early 1900s, the larger building in the distance was the latter day Grocer/Bakery and Post Office, but has been closed for many years and is now just part of a private residence.

village shop This is a photo of the 1900s Grocer/Bakery/Post Office I mentioned above. I think this picture really depicts the times, and is a good example of the early building.

Dray HorsesThis photograph was taken at the
1986 All Cannings Fete.
The horses were owned by
Wadworths Brewery
and at the time were still being used to deliver beer supplies to Public Houses in the Devizes locality by Dray during normal working days. This day they were just guests.

binder A picture showing methods from the past,This photograph was taken by George T Miness about year 2000 it was taken standing on Patney Railway Bridge a distance of 2 miles from All Cannings. A local Patney farmer still grows and harvests the old fashioned way a small amount of wheat each year, the straw is then used by a local thatcher to renovate old cottages and other buildings in and around the Devizes locality.
